Earth SERIES

With the Earth Series, travel across the space of glorious ground, soulful soil, and magnificent minerals. Much of my recent work focuses on the connection and realization of one’s Self. With Earth, we can accomplish this connection by experiencing all that is around us. Through Earth, we can tap into the limitless possibilities, where the journey is as exhilarating as the destination.

Each piece in the series represents a kind of navigation of tapestry. As we navigate this existence, we are constantly given choice; each a potential pathway to connecting to one’s extraordinary Self. Earth is beauty abound. Earth is a place where creativity is limitless. Earth is where the mind can find curiosity, wonder and discovery of the uncharted Self. Earth is where the restless find solace. Earth is all that we have and all that we are.

Like the Earth, the tapestries in this series vary in size, color combination and orientation. While some pieces are square and framed; others are presented as rectangular and stretched.

The original Earth pieces have a rich coloration that includes browns, golds, peach and ivory. Desert Rose pieces follow a more sandy and peachy coloration. Later pieces explore gold/yellow, copper/red and ivory.

With Earth, strips of fabric are cut and sewn into spontaneous overlapping patterns. Pieces use different weighted fabrics such as silks, cottons, suedes, and boucles. Outlines of various weighted yarns and fibers are sewn down to form “braided” edges throughout the piece.
