Ocean Water Waste SERIES

[PAINTINGS] Ocean Water Waste

Ocean Water Waste SERIES
Ocean Water Waste SERIES

About this series

With this series, I wanted to honor our oceans and bring attention to their degradation by pollution.

Sizes and materials

No.1 – 12″ x 12″
No.2 – 18″ x 18″
No.3 – 12″ x 24″

The series is made from fiber and paper textured with acrylic and ink on wood. This gave the intention of movement of debris over and embedded into a surface. The acrylic medium was thinned out to paint it into the nooks and crannies formed on the word from the fiber and paper mixed with gesso.

Intentions

Ocean Water Waste depicts the huge problem of ocean or marine littering. I have made quite a few water paintings as water and land are my favorite earth elements. These paintings are beautiful like our real oceans in spite of the litter dumped on them. Much like the human spirit, our oceans are still beautiful in spite of the litter dumped on them. Our humanity is represented not only in our treatment of each other but in our treatment of the most precious resources entrusted to us.

Unfortunately the exquisite beauty of our oceans does not exempt them from the reckless and the oftentimes negligent actions of their caretakers. I sincerely believe that our humanity is not only in our treatment of each other but in our treatment of the most precious resources entrusted to us.
